Glorious Factions — Cookie and Local Storage Notice
Draft — for legal review
Last updated: [DATE]
In short: Glorious Factions does not use cookies. We save a few things in your browser's storage so that you stay signed in and the game remembers your settings. That storage is only for the game. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking, so you won't see a consent banner. If that ever changes, we will ask you first.

1. Who this notice is from
This notice is from Ananta Studios, a subsidiary of RLM Global, which runs Glorious Factions at https://gloriousfactions.com. It explains what the website and the game store on your device. For everything else about your data, see the Privacy Policy.
2. We do not use cookies
2.1 Neither our website nor the game sets cookies.
2.2 We do not use analytics, advertising, social-media plugins, tracking pixels or third-party fonts. No third party stores anything on your device through our pages.
2.3 When you pay, you go to Stripe's checkout page. Stripe may use its own cookies there for payment security and fraud prevention. Stripe's own cookie policy covers that page, not this notice.
3. What we store in your browser instead
Browsers offer local storage (kept until you clear it) and session storage (cleared when you close the tab). We use them only for the purposes below.
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session (an authentication token from our sign-in provider, Supabase) | Local storage | Keeps you signed in, so you don't have to enter your password each time. The game cannot work without it | Until you sign out, the session expires, or you clear your browser storage |
| Game preferences: interface layout, chosen world, map filters, window positions, reduced-motion setting | Local storage | Remembers settings you choose | Until you change them or clear your browser storage |
| Per-world interface state (for example which panels or views you had open in a world) | Local storage | Brings you back to where you left off | Until you clear your browser storage |
Device identifier (gf.device: a random number with no meaning of its own) | Local storage | Sent with each game request for fair play and security: it lets us keep banned players from returning on the same device and spot one person running several accounts. The server only stores a keyed hash of it. See the Privacy Policy, section 3.7 | Until you clear your browser storage |
| Short-lived technical values used during sign-in and page changes | Session storage | Makes sign-in and moving between the website and the game work | Until you close the tab |
| Referral invite code (only if you arrive through an invite link) | Local storage on our website | Credits the player who invited you when you sign up | [PLACEHOLDER: until sign-up, or until you clear your browser storage] |
This information stays in your browser. Apart from the sign-in token, which your browser sends to our servers to prove who you are, and the invite code, which is sent when you sign up, we do not read it from our servers.
4. Service worker (push notifications only)
4.1 A service worker is a small script your browser can run for a website in the background.
4.2 We register a service worker only if you turn on push notifications in the game and allow them in your browser. It is used only to receive and display those notifications. It does not cache pages or files and does not track you.
4.3 If you turn notifications off in the game, we remove your subscription. You can also remove the service worker in your browser's site settings.
5. Why there is no consent banner
5.1 EU and UK law (the ePrivacy Directive and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) require consent before storing information on your device, unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for.
5.2 Everything listed in section 3 serves only to run the game you chose to play: keeping you signed in, remembering settings you chose, and completing your sign-up. Push notifications have their own permission prompt from your browser. For this reason we do not show a consent banner.
6. How to clear or control storage
6.1 Sign out in the game to end your session.
6.2 Clear site data in your browser to remove everything we have stored. Doing this signs you out and resets your game preferences. Your account and game progress are safe, because they are stored on our servers.
